It's nearing that time of the year again folks!!!
It is - can you believe - the 9th Scottish National Scooter Rally at the fantastic Border Union Agricultural Showground or as you know it better – KELSO!!
As all you regulars know, this huge venue boasts a massive Main Hall where the bands - The Ray Summers (Friday night) and Pama International (Saturday Night), DJs, dealer’s stalls, Custom Show, etc can be found throughout the weekend; and the small hall which this year will not only be hosting the Soul Room on Saturday night, but will be opened on Friday night with a Strickly NO Soul night!
Over the weekend the showground’s extensive paddock areas will host the camping, Silly Games, Gymkhana, live music from a variety of bands with DJs and music from the Audio Bus. You can also enjoy Paint Balling and large inflatables plus the Gyroscope!
The main hall’s fully equipped kitchen will be dishing up hot food all weekend - well into the night - as well as providing a hot food van on-site into the wee small hours – all offering good hearty rally grub at reasonable prices.
For your convenience and no doubt enjoyment, the Mobile Bar will be in position on-site throughout the weekend – let’s hope the sun shines in our giant beer garden!
At the entrance to the enclosed and car free camping area, are the fantastic toilet and shower facilities – hot water is available in abundance for most of the day. The shower/toilet areas will be closed approx 1 hour per day for cleaning – please don’t hassle the cleaners!
NOW THE IMPORTANT BUT BORING BITS........
As always, your safety is paramount at this event. With this in mind, NO CARS, VANS, or OTHER 4 WHEELERS (PLUS) OF ANY KIND will be permitted on the campsite - AT ANY TIME. Parking is separate from the campsite – THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!! Similarly, there is NO CAMPING ALLOWED in the car parking area. This is purely for your safety. If you don't want to adhere to this then you will have to park your car outside the Showground and come in from there!!
There will be External Security provided at key times and Stewards (wearing yellow bibs) will be on hand throughout the weekend for your assistance.
Children are permitted at parents risk and are 100% their responsibility – and ALL UNDER 16’S MUST LEAVE THE MAIN HALL/SOUL ROOM AT 10PM DUE TO THE RECENT CHANGES IN THE SCOTTISHING LICENCING LAWS - THIS IS NOTHING TO DO WITH US - THIS IS THE LAW!
All valuables are left in your tent, scooter or car at your own risk!
We would ask you to drive carefully on the site - no scooters after do’s! Anybody found using the site roadways for racing, etc will be ejected immediately from the site – PLEASE DON’T DO IT!
Please remember that ABSOLUTELY NO fires are permitted on site and please make sure you clean up after yourselves!!!
There will be an increased police presence in Kelso over the Kelso weekend due to the Jim Clark Rally being based in the town square – they are not there because of us Scooterists – they will be doing their jobs and traffic control will be a key part of this.
